PEPSI IPL 2013 Match - 9: RCB vs SRH

After losing their previous encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore evened the score with a convincing seven-wicket win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB were led by their captain who scored an undefeated 93 to see his team home.

Chasing 162, RCB got off to a flier with Mayank Agarwal dismissing Hanuma Vihari for a six and a boundary in the very first over. Chris Gayle also got into the act and RCB scored 15 off Ishant Sharma's 5th over. Thisara Perera (29) then struck sending back the dangerous Agarwal. Sharma struck soon after having Gayle (13) edge to the wicketkeeper.

Virat Kohli played some aggressive shots and along with AB de Villiers counter-attacked putting on 49 runs for the third wicket. Cameron White provided the breakthrough, when de Villiers (15) pulled a long hop but found the man in the deep. Kohli brought up his 50 of just 31 deliveries before hitting Amit Mishra's 16th over for two consecutive sixes, taking 21 runs from it. He followed it up with three boundaries of Perera putting RCB in the driver’s seat. Playing some breathtaking shots, Kohli enabled RCB to reach the target with 14 balls to spare.

Earlier SRH won the toss and elected to bat. RP Singh playing his first match of the season got RCB their first wicket when he had Akshath Reddy (12) caught at mid-on. Parthiv Patel (20) and Kumar Sangakara put on 38 runs for the second wicket before Muttiah Muralitharan bowled Patel. Disciplined bowling by the RCB bowlers restricted the flow of runs and SRH struggled to find any sort of momentum scoring just 62 runs by the halfway stage.

Sangakkara (23), giving the charge, fell to Murali Kathik, caught by Kohli. Perera (40) hit the first six of the SRH innings when he smashed Kartik over long off. White, along with Perera got into the act smashing Henriques for 18 runs, following it up with 19 runs off R Vinay Kumar. RP Singh provided the much needed breakthrough when he got rid of Perera but not before he had added 80 runs with White. White (52), who brought up his fifty with a massive six fell soon after holing out in the deep. SRH eventually finished at a competitive score of 161 for 6.
